About Us

GENERAL.jpg

Montessori on the Mountain offers quality, authentic Montessori education that develops the whole child and works in an open partnership with parents. We are highly trained, kind and compassionate educators who are experts in child development and believe in a child-centred approach to learning. We offer a safe, welcoming and nurturing prepared environment where children can work towards their fullest potential. We deeply value integrity, respect and care for the child, their parents, and the community at large. We operate an honest and kind school where all children are welcome and loved.

Montessori on the Mountain is founded by Jamie, an AMI trained Montessori Educator with a deep love for children, and a profound passion for Montessori education. This school is dear to her heart; a labour of love forever dedicated to her children. Opening a Montessori school had always been a dream of hers and it came into reality sooner than anticipated. With a childcare shortage and Montessori schools few and far between, it seemed like the opportune time to set her goal into action. As a trained Montessorian, Montessori education is highly valued and the type of foundation desired for her own young children. Creating Montessori on the Mountain was the only way to make this happen for her family and for other hopeful families in her community.  It is Jamie's goal to offer the community the best possible education for children and adults alike, providing support to the community and educating parents about Montessori approaches and philosophy.

“We are truly grateful to Montessori on the Mountain for being such a nurturing and supportive environment for our 2-year-old daughter. In just a month, we’ve seen remarkable improvements in her cognitive development—she’s picking up new words quickly and becoming more expressive every day. We’ve also noticed positive changes in her eating habits; she has started eating better and gaining healthy weight. We’re so glad we made the decision to enroll her at MOTM and look forward to seeing her continue to grow and thrive here."
-Ashraf, parent of MOTM student.

“As a parent, our hope is that when we entrust our children into the care of teachers, they will truly see our children for who they are and nurture their sense of curiosity, wonder, and potential. Mrs. Bosompem is the embodiment of that hope. Her kind and gentle direction allowed my son to blossom under her tutelage, feeling safe to explore and discover more about himself and the world around him within a context of deep social connection. I cannot recommend Mrs. Bosompem enough as an educator of excellence!”
-Sarah, former parent of a child taught by Jamie (MOTM founder).

“Our experience with Montessori on the Mountain feels like an extension of our home. The guides and staff are caring and thoughtful. The students are enriched by the resources around them, and our child is excited to go to school each day. Friendships are built not just among the children but also among the engaging parent community, too. We’ve seen such growth and eagerness to explore in our kiddo. We believe a big reason for this is the intentional and supportive environment the school has provided. It’s worth investing in our child’s development. By enrolling them in a Montessori setting, you will be in awe as you watch them thrive! ”
-Aleks, parent of MOTM student.

A Little About
Our Brand…

Our brand represents who we are as a school. The mountains signify our location, but more importantly, the journey of child development; starting at the base and working diligently, with purpose, to eventually reach the summit.

Triangles are the strongest shape in nature. Forces applied to a triangular structure are evenly distributed across all sides and angles. This equal distribution of force is what gives a triangle its incredible stability. Just as the triangle distributes the task, our school strives to educate by supporting the child and their parents from every angle, while maintaining strength, integrity and purpose.

Purple signifies trust, reliability and creativity, each foundational values of our school. We value the experiences children have at Montessori on the Mountain, and work to build relationships with our parents that are based in respect and gratitude for one another. We aim to spark creativity and imagination, stemming from your child's intrinsic motivation to learn and discover, and enhance the world around them.

Montessori is a holistic aid to life; where children learn practical skills that will help them towards independence while building up their confidence, social skills, wealth of knowledge and critical thinking skills. Everything we do in a Montessori school is based on the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori. We educate the whole child and the whole family. Guides (Teachers) focus on the needs of the individual child, meeting them where they are and helping them to reach their full potential. Parent education is an essential component to our work with children and we strive to work in partnership with parents; expanding their knowledge of child development and offering strategies to best support their child both at school and at home. The Montessori method is more than what is in the classroom; it is a way of being with children. Since the early 1900s, the magic of Montessori has been gaining popularity all over the world and today there are Montessori schools in 156 countries worldwide!
